If you smell something fishy in your car, consider it as a problem. It is safer for you and your passengers if you check where the source comes from. A strange odor may pose a threat to your health and endanger a number of people. Neglecting to deal with the problem could also result in costly repairs.
Musty Smell

If you smell a musty aroma every time you turn on your air conditioner, the reason may be mildew and mold. A cold evaporator of the air conditioner typically gathers moisture. The evaporator will get dry if you run the fan at the highest speed. The carpets in your car may also be the cause of that musty odor.

A Sniff of Rotten Eggs

If your catalytic converter starts to malfunction, it releases a smell of sulfur or rotten eggs. The converter probably overheats because of an underlying problem in the emission or engine system.

Sweet Odor

The source of the sweet smell in your interior could be antifreeze. If it is really the culprit, there may be some leakage in your car's cooling system. Finding the leak may prove to be difficult. The leak could originate from a damaged heat exchanger or from a stream that penetrates your cabin.

Smell of Burning

There are several potential sources for this burning smell. The reason may come from your overheated brake pads or rotors brought on by too much braking. Some oil may be leaking on a spot on your engine that is already hot. If your car comes with a manual transmission, your clutch plate may be overheated, which causes the burning smell.

Rotting Fruit

If you smell a rotten fruit, do not think of it as another source hiding behind the smell of a rotting fruit. It is most likely a banana and apple forgotten under the car seats.

A Lingering Rubber Odor

If you smell some sort of burning rubber in your car, a broken pulley could be chewing your driving belt. It is also because a hose is rubbing a moving part.in your automobile.

A Whiff of Gas

Smelling gas is considered normal especially when starting a cold engine. But, if you continue to smell gas even when the engine is already warm, you could have a loose gas cap in your hands. It could also due to a leak in your evaporative emissions control system.

Burning Toast Stench

This source may be from an overheated insulation or short circuit in an electrical component. Do not ignore this smell as short circuits can be the cause of a fire.

If you smell something off inside your car, find the source at once. Doing this could save your life. The source of an unpleasant order in the car could be anything. A defective braking system could be the source. An overloaded catalytic converter can cause the vehicle's interior to smell like rotten egg. Likewise, slipping driving belts produce burning rubber smells. A leak in the coolant system produces sweet syrup like smell. Remember one thing- an unpleasant odor is an early notification of a complication that might become serious in the time to come. So, instead of ignoring any wired smell, you need to take all possible measures for finding and eliminating the source of bad odor.
